Today is my final day of maternity leave and, luckily, my husband is off for Columbus Day. To celebrate surviving the past 12 weeks, eat my feelings, and take advantage of having the day to spend together, we took a walk to Coffee House Too on York Street for coffee and breakfast.
We live in a city with no shortage of awesome breakfast sandwiches but, let’s face it, it’s pretty easy to whip together eggs, a breakfast meat, throw it on some bread and dig in. Coffee House Too sets their sandwiches apart by slathering some garlic butter on the roll before adding anything else. On that note, us Philadelphians know it’s always about the roll – theirs are perfectly soft and, when warm, they meld together with hot eggs, meat and cheese. The hashbrowns are on point, too; finely chopped, seasoned potatoes are cooked together until slightly crispy with peppers and onions. They’re truly addicting. I really meant to take a picture to post, but I was way too hungry.
On our walk home we grabbed hangers full of my dry cleaning (ugh…work clothes), which really rubbed in the fact that I’ll be hanging up my uniform of spit-up drenched t-shirts and comfy sweatpants. I couldn’t have picked a better breakfast, though, to celebrate my last weekday home before heading back to the office.
